Dormouse

At MKA Ecology we have extensive experience of situations where dormouse populations are a factor in development.
Dormice are traditionally associated with ancient woodlands, coppiced woodland and mature hedgerows. However, dormice have more recently been recorded in a host of different habitats containing woody vegetation, including overgrown gardens, coastal scrub, gorse, bracken, bramble and reed beds. Where dormice are encountered, our aim is to provide you with cost-effective and sustainable solutions which minimise delay, while achieving legal compliance and enhancements where appropriate.
This may involve:
- Dormouse surveys and site assessments
- Feasible solutions for the presence of dormice within development areas
- Design and implementation of appropriate mitigation strategies
- Fully trained ecologists, experienced in handling and surveying for dormice
- Comprehensive technical support to statutory licence applications
