Ecologists relying on eyesight and bat detectors alone have their challenges during bat surveys. However, night vision aids offer unquestionable evidence of bats emerging from, or re-entering, their roosts.

The Bat Conservation Trust’s most recent guidelines recommend the use of night vision aids for assessing bat roosts. At MKA we’ve been using these in our work for some time now – see some evidence for yourself as a Pipistrelle bat re-enters its roost at dusk.
